What is recycled polyester yarn

About half of the world's clothing and accessories are made of polyester fibers, and by 2030, this number will almost double. what is the reason? More and more users are looking for more durable clothing. Because polyester is not a sustainable textile choice because it is synthesized from petrochemical products. Most brands use recycled polyester yarn (RPET) to produce clothing and accessories.

In order to protect the ecosystem and environment of future generations, Colossustex produces recycled polyester yarn. Recycled polyester yarn is an innovative recycled polyester yarn made from discarded PET bottles. Using an environmentally friendly recycling process, the recycled polyester yarn does not rely on petroleum, so it can effectively protect natural resources and reduce environmental pressure without affecting quality, and produce environmentally friendly yarns.

Recycled polyester
Recycled polyester, also known as recycled polyester yarn, is obtained by melting waste plastic and respun it into new polyester fiber. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) can be recycled from post-industrial and post-consumer materials. By using plastic bottles and containers discarded by consumers, recycled polyester yarn is formed. PET waste is broken down into fiber components, which can then be spun into recycled yarn.

Recycled polyester yarn process

Clean
At the recycling center, PET bottles are sorted and sorted, and then sent to a specific PET recycling facility. Remove and clean the caps and labels of bottles and containers. In addition, they are steamed and washed to remove any non-PET components.

Chopped
Use a mechanical baler to cut the bottles into thin slices. Chopping will drain excess liquid (water, soda, cold drinks, etc.). This will not affect the quality of the plastic. This waste is precious, mainly for the fashion industry. After that, transparent plastics and colored plastics are classified. The removed plastic is used to make white clothes. It can be dyed, so it is very valuable.

Processing
It undergoes a process of polymerization and repolymerization to reconstruct into PET slices. These PET fragments can be further processed into clothes, insulation materials, new water bottles, etc.

Melt
The wood chips are then passed through the spinner and melted. When it comes out of the spinning machine, it immediately cools down and becomes a fine polyester fiber. Then they are smoothed, stretched and placed in a reel, rolling in a bunch.

The recycled yarn is ready to be used again for weaving or weaving into fabrics. Polyester waste recycling has the same aesthetic and operational properties as conventional polyester yarn. Recycled polyester gives new life to this non-biodegradable material, otherwise the material will eventually enter the ocean and landfills, which is harmful to water bodies and other animals. The quality of recycled polyester is the same as ordinary polyester, but compared with the original polyester, the energy required for its production is reduced by 59%. Compared with ordinary polyester, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 32%.

Feature
  • The recycled polyester yarn is produced from old PET bottles. Therefore, petrochemical raw materials are not used, which is harmful to the environment.
  • Excellent quality.

Applications
  • Industrial Textiles
  • Sportswear
  • Outdoor and casual wear
  • Uniform
  • Home Textiles

The recycling of polyester waste is a boon for the textile industry. You can order a batch of recycled polyester yarn from CITIC Nanyang to make sustainable clothing and accessories. We are the leading producer of recycled polyester staple fiber in China. Together with CITIC Nanyang, we are committed to making our environment environmentally friendly.
